Auckland’s Best View

The 10K distance is the classic meeting point of endurance and speed and the 10K Classic course at the Auckland Waterfront Half Marathon promises to be one of the fastest in the country. It is billiard-table flat with breathtaking views throughout and on-course entertainment to keep your spirits high just when the effort starts to bite. If you are looking for a place to Rewrite Your PB … you’ve found it.

If the 10K Classic is for you, you’ll enjoy a relatively late lie-in compared to your comrades in the half. The race gets underway at 9am in the heart of Mission Bay and the course is a stunner, comprising 3km out to Ngapipi Rd and back – taking in Okahu Bay, Kelly Tarlton’s and Bastion Point – and then 2km out and back to the St Heliers – passing beautiful Kohimarama both ways. Throughout the run, you’ll be presented with stunning views of Auckland’s beautiful Waitemata Harbour, eastern beaches and Rangitoto Island. When heading city bound from start to 3km and again from 8km to the finish line, Auckland’s stunning skyline, Sky Tower and the Harbour Bridge will guide the way.

Auckland’s most famous coastal road, Tamaki Drive, has been closed to traffic for us. So soak up the experience of running or walking on one of the most beautiful thoroughfares anywhere in the world.

The finish line is inside Selwyn Reserve in Mission Bay. Just run directly towards the iconic Mission Bay fountain and you can’t miss it. Collect your unique finisher medal, grab a drink and a banana and relax on the grass or take a dip in the healing waters off Mission Bay beach. You made it!
